Knowledge! This is a KJV Bible study guide. Proverbs 1:7 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction.
KNOWL'EDGE, n. nol'lej.1. A clear and certain perception of that which exists, or of truth and fact; the perception of the connection and agreement, or disagreement and repugnancy of our ideas. We can have no knowledge of that which does not exist. God has a perfect knowledge of all his works. Human knowledge is very limited, and is mostly gained by observation and experience.2. Learning; illumination of mind.Ignorance is the curse of God, knowledge the wing wherewith we fly to heaven.3. Skill; as a knowledge of seamanship.4. Acquaintance with any fact or person. I have no knowledge of the man or thing.5. Cognizance; notice. Ruth 2.6. Information; power of knowing.Where does wisdom, knowledge and the ability to understand come from? How do we get it? These are some of the many verses that tell us: 1 Chronicles 22:12; Psalm 111:10, 119:34, 73, 104, 125, 130, 144, 169; Proverbs 1:5, 7, 2:1-22, 3:3-5, 4:7; James 1:5.No two people are just exactly alike. We are each given different gifts by God, to include levels of wisdom, knowledge, understanding, comprehension and perception; look around you, you can see this very easily for yourself today. See Romans 12:3, 6-8; 1 Corinthians 12:12-31; James 1:17. Use the gift He has given you to serve Him. Don't be worrying about the gift of another, He gave it to them, not you.The great hindrance to all true wisdom is the thought that we have already attained it (Plumptre). Continue to study your Bibles completely; connect the dots and get a much more complete picture. If you don't do that now, start today as we are commanded to do in the following verse. 2 Timothy 2:15 Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
