Self righteous hypocrites with a holier than thou attitude do not even want to be around another sinner. I see this behavior in some so-called Christians today (2022, 2023). This is very apparent in the way other sinners (homosexuals for instance) get treated by the holier than thou so-called Christians. All verses are from a KJV Bible.Romans 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; (What does the word “all” mean? It means everyone including Christians, even though they may believe they are better in some way. We are all in the same boat as far as sin is concerned. Keep reading and see what Jesus Christ [God in the flesh] thinks of someone that displays this sort of behavior).Mark 2:15 And it came to pass, that, as Jesus sat at meat in his house, many publicans and sinners sat also together with Jesus and his disciples: for there were many, and they followed him.Mark 2:16 And when the scribes and Pharisees saw him eat with publicans and sinners, they said unto his disciples, How is it that he eateth and drinketh with publicans and sinners?(The Scribes and Pharisees didn't like the fact that Jesus was eating with sinners and common folks. Self righteous hypocrites don’t like to hang around common people. They think they are holier than thou and they don’t like to have anything to do with sinners. They seem to overlook the fact that according to Romans 3:23 everyone of us are sinners, including themselves).Mark 2:17 When Jesus heard it, he saith unto them, They that are whole have no need of the physician, but they that are sick: I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.(When Jesus heard what the hypocrites were saying, He tells them that "Healthy people don't need a doctor, sick people do." He goes on to tell them that He did not come to those who think they are righteous, but to those who are sinners. Christ came to heal the sinners and bring them the truth (salvation, eternal life). Most holier than thou people don’t want to share the truth, because they don’t know the truth in the first place. They are hung up on legalism, denominationalism, religious rituals, and traditions and commandments of men; sadly, they cannot see or understand the truth. More than likely they do not even study the word of God; they are biblically illiterate).Another example follows:Mark 3:5 And when he had looked round about on them with anger, being grieved for the hardness of their hearts, he saith unto the man, Stretch forth thine hand. And he stretched it out: and his hand was restored whole as the other.(Jesus was angry with the same self righteous hypocrites as above in Mark 2. Don’t be a hypocrite thinking you’re better than someone else. Please see Romans 3:23 again; we are all sinners).I borrowed the following: HOMOSEXUALS AND THE CHRISTIAN FELLOWSHIPOur aim in the following statement is to combine theological thinking and Biblical commitment with contemporary understanding and compassionate pastoral concern. 1) God in his Holy Word plainly condemns the practice of homosexualityLeviticus 18:22Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination.Romans 1:26For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature:Romans 1:27 And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompense of their error which was meet.1 Corinthians 6:9Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind,1 Corinthians 6:10 Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God.1 Corinthians 6:11 And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God. (Homosexuality is not the unforgivable sin). Therefore, neither individual Christians, nor ministers of the Word of God, nor congregations of the Lord Jesus Christ, may take away from or lessen God’s prohibition of and warnings against the practice of homosexuality. Neither may they, individually or collectively as responsible citizens in a free society, urge or concede that the State should give special protection or approval to this practice, or promote it as a matter of personal taste, free choice, or “sexual orientation”. Homosexuals are not entitled to special treatment under the law. That would be tantamount to rewarding evil. 2) The Apostle Paul testifies that those once involved in homosexuality were amongst those who were washed, sanctified, and justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ; in other words, if one truly repents, it can be forgiven (See 1 Corinthians 6:11 above).Therefore, individual Christians, ministers and congregations, understanding that all human beings are sinners, and that as Christians we have received God’s mercy while helpless, ungodly and hostile to God(Romans 3:23; 5:6,10), must warn against homosexual practices as from the mouth of the Lord (Ezekiel 3:17), and at the same time proclaim forgiveness, cleansing, restoration, and power for godly living for all who truly repent and believe the Gospel (John 1:12; 3:16; Romans 1:16; 1 Corinthians 6:11; Philippians 2:13). What someone does with truth after you lovingly share it with them is between them and God. We specifically renounce any unbiblical prejudice against persons who are homosexual simply because of their orientation, which is just one particular form of the same sinful orientation we all have. But we do believe that every expression of that orientation is sinful, just as every expression of adulterous desire is sinful, and we believe that all practicing adulterers and homosexuals should be called to repentance. 3) God desires that all mankind repent and come to a knowledge of the truth and be saved(2 Peter 3:19;1Timothy 2:4).Therefore, individual Christians, ministers and congregations will compassionately and in love proclaim the Good News of forgiveness and the admonition to go and sin no more (John 8:11) to those once involved in homosexual practices, admitting such into fellowship after confession of faith and evidence of repentance, as with all those who have sinned grievously in other ways (1 Corinthians 6:11). We counsel those homosexuals who do not experience full healing and reorientation to remain celibate, trusting the Holy Spirit to give a joyous and fruitful existence as is promised to a believer who cannot experience marriage (Isaiah 56:3-5). Jesus repeats this promise (Matthew 19:12).
Matthew 5:16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.Luke 11:33 No man, when he hath lighted a candle, putteth it in a secret place, neither under a bushel, but on a candlestick, that they which come in may see the light. (The light is truth from the Word. When God gives you a truth, let it shine and share it with others, if you get that opportunity, so they can see it and understand it also. See Matthew 5:15-16; Mark 4:21-22. Remember, you can’t force it on someone; they will either hear and understand or they won’t).Romans 10:3 For they being ignorant of God's righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God. (Why are they ignorant of God’s righteousness? Those that think they know it all already do not study God’s word as we are commanded to do in 2 Timothy 2:15).2 John 1:10 If there come any unto you, and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into your house, neither bid him God speed:2 John 1:11 For he that biddeth him God speed is partaker of his evil deeds.I must add that we are not to support something God is against, a different doctrine for instance. This doesn’t mean to shun others; we are to share the good news with others when possible. We want them to see the light when they come in (truly repent) as stated above in Luke 11:33.
