The heart of Saratoga Springs is located on Broadway, a classic main street lined with old houses, inns, eateries, pubs, boutiques, and art galleries. Saratoga Spa State Park, a 2,400-acre National Historic Landmark just outside of downtown Saratoga, is home to many of the city's top attractions. Along with the Saratoga Performing Arts Center, which stages summer concerts and ballets, the Saratoga Automobile Museum, and miles of hiking and cross-country skiing paths, this area is home to the Roosevelt Baths & Spa, where you may soak in Saratoga's mineral waters. Whatever your interests or the time of year, there are plenty of things to do at this park.Other museums in Saratoga include the X-Files Preservation Collection, the Tang Teaching Museum & Art Gallery at Skidmore College, the Saratoga Springs History Museum, and the National Racing Museum and Hall of free games Fame. (Yes, there is an actual museum honoring the venerable '90s TV program.)The Saratoga National Historical Park, the scene of the famous Battles of Saratoga, a turning point for Americans during the Revolutionary War, is located about 15 miles outside of the center of Saratoga. This is not only a must-see for history buffs, but it's also a gorgeous park to hike in.The oldest sports facility in the nation, the renowned Saratoga Race Course opened its doors in 1863. There are thousands of spectators at the races during the eight-week track season, which runs from mid-July to early September. On racing days, it also offers walking tours of the 350-acre grounds.
